We're not your grandfather's law firm - though we've got the wisdom and track record to back up everything we do.
Look, we started Halcyon Forgeward because we saw too many businesses getting stuck with legal advice that was either totally impractical or just flat-out confusing. We wanted to do things differently - give companies real solutions they could actually use.
Started with three lawyers who were tired of the whole stuffy law firm scene. We set up shop in a small office on Bay Street with one mission: help businesses navigate legal stuff without all the unnecessary drama.
Handled our first major M&A deal - a $45M acquisition that could've gone sideways in about a dozen ways. But we pulled it off, and suddenly startups and mid-sized companies were calling us non-stop.
Moved into our current space in Suite 1200. Added specialized teams for IP protection and employment law because our clients kept asking for it. Sometimes the best business plan is just listening to what people need.
When COVID hit, we didn't just survive - we helped dozens of companies restructure, renegotiate contracts, and figure out the new employment landscape. Some of our best work happened over Zoom calls at weird hours.
We're now a team of 18 lawyers plus support staff, and we're still doing what we set out to do: provide practical, strategic legal solutions without the nonsense. Only now we're doing it for everyone from tech startups to established corporations.
We're a bunch of legal nerds who actually enjoy solving complex problems. Here's who you'll be working with.
Managing Partner
15 years in corporate law. Started her career at a Bay Street giant, got tired of the politics, and helped found our firm. She's closed over 200 M&A deals and somehow still finds time to mentor junior lawyers.
Senior Litigation Partner
12 years crushing it in courtrooms. Marcus doesn't lose often - like, really doesn't. He's won complex commercial disputes that other firms said were unwinnable. Also makes terrible dad jokes.
IP & Tech Law Partner
10 years protecting innovation. Engineering degree before law school, so she actually understands the tech she's protecting. She's saved startups from IP disasters more times than we can count.
Employment Law Lead
8 years navigating workplace law. David's helped companies avoid costly employment disputes and built compliant HR frameworks that actually work in the real world. Straight shooter who tells it like it is.
Contract & Compliance Specialist
9 years drafting bulletproof agreements. Rebecca's contracts have held up in court every single time they've been tested. She's bilingual and handles our Quebec clients like a pro.
Associate, Corporate Law
5 years and rising fast. James came to us fresh out of Osgoode and immediately proved he could handle complex deals. He's got this weird ability to spot issues before they become problems.
These aren't just words on a wall. This is how we operate every single day.
We explain stuff in plain English. If we can't make it clear, we haven't done our job.
Theory's great and all, but we focus on what actually works in the real world of business.
We'd rather prevent problems than fix them. Boring? Maybe. Effective? Absolutely.
Your goals drive everything. We're here to help you succeed, not pad our billable hours.
We look at the big picture - how legal decisions impact your business goals down the road.
